Here is a brief sketch of how our church began and how we came to be what we are today.

  • 1924 - First service in a home in Elmira Heights
  • 1925 - Organization of a church with seventeen members
  • 1927 Purchase of 1100 South Main Street property; basic unit of present facility built.
  • 1930-40 - Real spiritual and numerical growth; building lengthened 35 fee, providing for more classrooms
  • 1947 - Launching of first bus ministry in Chemung County
  • 1950-54 - Purchase of parsonage, erection of Anderson Hall (gym/bus garage)
  • 1954-64 - Addition of large educational unit, more seating area, new kitchen and fellowship hall
  • 1989 - Enhancement of exterior of main building and installation of lighted cross
  • 1992 - Purchase of adjacent residential property for potential growth/parking
  • 2002 - Courses offered to encourage a purpose driven life and the adoption of the purpose driven church concept
